At Rayleigh Hi-Fi, we are delighted to add T+A to our portfolio of top end hi-fi brands. T+A stands for Theory and Application in the field of audio technology. That means the aim of T+A is to devise, create and fine-tune Hi-Fi components of the highest quality. T+A have been based in Herford, Eastern Westphalia, since 1978, and this is the centre of their development and practical work. The design brief for the products includes no expense or effort in their endeavour to achieve sonic perfection and their design philosophy encompasses working with extremely long product cycles, extended useful life, and comprehensive retro-fit facilities. T+A aim for more than just a music system – it’s an investment for the future.

PA 3000 HV Amp
The PA 3000 HV is an audiophile High-End integrated amplifier packed full of unique, newly developed technological features. The measured values, specification and power generated by this machine represent the limit of what is physically possible. The components and materials employed are of first-class quality, without compromise, and the workmanship of the case sets new standards which are unequalled even by much more expensive equipment. The case of the PA 3000 HV demonstrates the fundamental design principle of this range: the left and right channels are symmetrical, and of completely separate construction. This double-mono design, with discrete, independent circuit boards for the left and right channels, ensures outstanding channel separation, and prevents crosstalk.
The overall design of the T+A – HV (= High Voltage) series dictates that all the amplifier stages run at much higher operating voltages than usual; in the pre-amplifier this is 80 Volts, in the output stage 360 Volts. This means that, in a similar manner to valve-based amplifiers, the actual modulation of all stages is very small. Only a very small section (less than 20%) of the performance curve of the amplifier transistors is exploited, virtually eliminating the curved, i.e. non-linear, part of that curve. The result of the high operating voltages is extremely broad dynamic range combined with excellent linearity. T+A have developed this unique technology for use in all the machines in the series, since it provides enormous improvements in sound quality which naturally benefit the output stages of source devices such as the MP 3000 HV multi-source player as well as pre-amplifiers and power amplifiers.
PDP 3000 HV
The PDP 3000 HV is the latest CD player in the HV series, and has been developed specifically to reproduce high-resolution audio data without any trace of compromise. For this reason T+A have equipped the machine with a uniquely superior disc mechanism which reads CD and SACD media perfectly, and transfers their data to its superb PCM and DSD converters. Since this unique converter concept is ideal for use with external sources, they have also designed the PDP 3000 HV to operate as a DAC, featuring seven digital inputs!
Like all HV devices the PDP 3000 HV incorporates no ferro-magnetic materials; it is constructed entirely of pure aluminium, and contains aluminium dividers which separate five compartments housing the disc mechanism with decoder board and digital inputs, the D/A converter with analogue output stage, the analogue mains power supply, the digital mains power supply and, in the solid front panel, the control section with its ultra-bright screen and sensor buttons.
AMP 8 High End Power Amplifier
The overall circuit design of the AMP 8 is that of the sensational PA 3000 HV integrated amplifier, which is why the input stage and the voltage amplifier stage operate at much higher voltage potentials (HV – High Voltage concept).
DAC 8 DSD High End D/A-Converter-Preamp
Fundamentally, the new DAC 8 DSD is capable of doing everything necessary to convert every form of digital source into analogue signals at the very highest quality, including DSD right up to the highest possible resolution. T+A have further improved the unit’s outstanding pre-amplifier and incorporated a volume control of fully analogue construction based on High-End Melf resistors. The “State of the Art” output stage is of fully symmetrical design and discrete construction. Its impedance is very low and it is equipped with symmetrical (XLR) and asymmetrical (RCA) outputs. These features make the DAC 8 DSD more than just a High-End converter: it is also a High-End preamp of supreme quality.
