General Terms & Conditions

1) GENERAL: Unless otherwise agreed in writing these conditions constitute the only conditions upon which Rayleigh Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Ltd (The Company) are willing to supply the goods to any person wishing to purchase goods (The Purchaser) from the Company's On-Line Store. All orders are accepted and executed on the understanding that the Purchaser is bound by these conditions. These conditions shall prevail over any terms and conditions in the Purchasers order or other document issued by the Purchaser except where expressly agreed to by the Company in writing.

2) All orders are subject to availability.

3) If the items ordered are not in stock, Customers will be informed via e-mail or telephone. Customers have the right to cancel an order placed on items not in stock if unsatisfied with the delivery alternative. 

4) All products are covered by a minimum one year's Manufacturer's warranty except Styli and Projector lamps (unless otherwise stated).

5) Goods are not supplied on a rental or trial basis unless specifically stated in writing by the Company.

6) All displayed and advertised prices are inclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated.

7) Claims for missing items, non-delivery or damage to goods in transit must be made within 7 working days of expected delivery time. Any claims made after this time will not be accepted.

8) All products are insured by Rayleigh Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Ltd until delivery has been effected.

The following terms and conditions apply to mail order Consumers as defined in the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000.

9) The Purchaser shall, according to the terms set out in this clause, have the right to cancel an order within 7 working days after the date of delivery by the Company to the Purchaser provided that He or She gives written notice of such cancellation.

A) If the Purchaser cancels a contract, Rayleigh Hi-Fi Sound & Vision Ltd shall, according to the regulations refund any payment made by the Purchaser within 28 days from the day on which He or She cancelled the contract, however that the Purchaser shall not be entitled to a repayment in the event that:

Ai)  The Purchaser does not take due care and attention of the goods either prior or following the cancellation of the contract whilst the goods remain in the Purchasers possession. The Purchaser shall not be refunded if the goods are not packed in their original box, with all entireties e.g. manuals, remote controls, cables etc. and if the internal or external packaging has been damaged or misused in any way.


Aii)  The Purchaser marks or damages the goods or returns them in a different condition to what He or She received on delivery. The Consumer is responsible for the cost of returning any goods to the Company. This applies to refunds, replacements and repairs.

10) CONSEQUENTAL LOSS: (a) The Company shall not be liable for any loss sustained by any personal damage to any property whatsoever and howsoever arising directly out of or in consequence of any act or omission by the Company in the supply of goods including delay, loss of profit and liability to third parties. (b) Nothing contained in these terms and conditions shall affect the Companies liability under the 'unfair contracts terms act 1977' for death or personal injury caused by the negligence of the Company.

11) "In to order" goods can only be returned if faulty.

12) This contract and these general conditions of sale shall at all times be construed in accordance with and subject to jurisdiction of the courts in England.

 

Delivery

We deliver to most UK mainland addresses subject to cover by our carriers.  For items over £99 this is normally free*.  Delivery is available Monday to Friday.  A Saturday delivery can sometimes be arranged at additional cost.  Each item will be labelled with its own delivery charge.  Delivery does not include installation as standard.

*This excludes specific very heavy items and deliveries to remote areas including Scottish Highlands, Scottish Isles, Isle of Man, and Channel Isles. Once you have entered your delivery postcode, any applicable charges will appear.  Delivery is available but at additional cost to the following postcodes: all GY, IM, IV, JE, KW, PA34, PA37 to PA39, PH19 to PH26, PH30 to PH41, PH49 to PH50, ZE.

How can I get my new purchase installed and set up?
(Rayleigh Hi-Fi Delivery Area Only)

We provide a product installation service* in our zoned delivery area using our own vehicles. This option can be selected when in the "shopping basket" whilst making your purchase on-line.  Please see ‘Installation’ for details of our normal exclusions.  Installation includes unpacking the product, setting it up and demonstrating how to use it. It also includes removing any unwanted packaging. Accessories, leads etc can also be purchased separately from our installer.

*Our stores are able to offer a level of installation service to the highest standards in the industry by individual arrangement (including wall-mounting of appropriate products, special cabling, and product programming) but this is not available through our on-line store.  Please contact our stores or our Custom Installation Dept. for full details.

Are you able to install in other areas of the country?
We are currently unable to offer a nationwide installation service on-line although we can provide help and advice over the telephone (0844 264 0195).  However, our stores have a very wide installation range according to the nature of the products so please contact our nearest store if you wish to discuss this possibility. 

How long do I have to wait for my goods to arrive?
Providing the goods are in stock we aim to deliver within 7 days of your order.  If this is not possible we will contact you by telephone or e-mail.

Can you deliver my goods to a different address?
To prevent fraudulent transactions, we are currently only able to deliver to the Cardholders address, however once you have had more than 2 successful purchases and deliveries you will be able to request a delivery to a different address. In these circumstances each case will be looked at individually and extra security checks will be required.

 

Returns & Refunds - Online purchases

These conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer

What if I wish to cancel my order?

It is important to us that you are delighted with your order. In the unlikely event of you wishing to cancel your order you may do so without reason at any time from the day you placed the order, up to 7 working days starting the day after you received the goods. We will refund in full monies paid for your purchase within 30 days of cancellation. If the goods are not faulty or have not been wrongly delivered by us then they must be returned at your cost. Products must be returned unused, undamaged and in the original packaging along with any accessories, as any damage or shortages will be charged for accordingly. Goods are returned at your risk and should require a signature on delivery.  If you are not able to return the goods, Rayleigh Hi-Fi Sound & Vision can arrange to collect them and deduct the costs from your refund. Please make sure you contact us prior to returning your goods for a ‘Returns Authorisation Number’, as returns cannot be accepted without a Returns Authorisation Number.

What should I do if my goods arrive damaged?
Please examine the packaging before you sign to confirm receipt of the goods from our delivery agents*.  If the packaging is incomplete or damaged in any way please refuse the delivery and contact us immediately.
Please take care when unpacking to prevent any damage to the goods.  Please inspect the goods carefully and contact us within 7 working days of delivery if there are any damaged or missing items. *Items signed for as ‘received in good condition’ where there is obvious box damage cannot be returned for refund. (This is because we insure the shipment and we cannot claim if they are damaged but signed for as received in good condition.)

What happens if my goods develop a fault?

Within 28 days of receipt:
If your goods develop a fault within 28 days of receipt please contact us to arrange return and inspection.
Providing the fault has not been caused by neglect, accident or misuse and the item is still in “as new” condition with original packaging, we will generally exchange it or arrange a refund.
This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

After 28 days and within the guarantee period:
If your goods develop a fault after 28 days and within the manufacturers guarantee period we will arrange, entirely at our discretion, to repair or replace the product free of charge.

How long does it take to get a refund?

It is our policy to ensure that refunds are made as soon as possible and in any event within 30 days of your order.

Please contact us for a returns number before you return any items and ensure all goods are suitably packaged to prevent any damage in transit.  Goods are returned at your risk and should require a signature on delivery.

 

Rayleigh Hi-Fi Installation Service

Rayleigh Hi-Fi is far more than just an e-retailer. Since we first started in business over 37 years ago, we have been focused on providing quality products that offer the best performance possible in relation to the amount of money spent. Individually excellent products will often perform at way below their optimum if not installed and set-up properly as part of a cohesive system. This applies to AV products every bit as much as audiophile hi-fi.

For this reason we greatly prefer to deliver and install the products we sell because we can ensure you are getting the best possible performance. Our customer recommendation rate is amongst the very highest in the industry because of the care and attention to detail that is our trademark. With a home cinema system, for example, components must be matched as a combination, the best positioning chosen, the best connections used, and the system settings must be optimised to get the system performing at its best. Without considerable knowledge or experience, high quality home cinema is not a suitable DIY activity.

For these same reasons, many of our manufacturers / suppliers do not want their products sold on the web and delivered to your door in a box. They also care that you are thrilled by the performance and so want to be sure that their products are properly installed and working to the best of their designed capability; this is why some products are unavailable for online purchase and others can only be purchased if we are carrying out the installation for you.

There are many products in our huge range that we can send to you by post or carrier, especially accessories such as cables, styli, or headphones. However, we have an expert installation team and a large delivery area where we will not only bring a chosen system or main items to you but will also install and professionally set them up. Installations will often take many hours, or even days to complete with larger, more complex systems. If this costs a bit more than from a supplier who will only deliver it to your doorstep, then we believe you will appreciate the extra value you will receive from us. Please ask for details about our delivery and installation service.

Free Delivery conditions

UK
For all orders over £99 inc vat, we will deliver, next working day, to a UK mainland address*, for FREE. For orders under £99 there is a small charge of £5 for next day delivery.
Small items will be sent by Royal Mail recorded delivery, larger items will be sent by courier.  In both cases the goods will need to be signed for.

If you are not home...
With items sent by Royal Mail, they leave a card for you to either arrange another delivery date or give you the choice to collect the item from your local sorting office.

With larger items sent by carrier, a card will left and a re-delivery attempted the next working day. If you miss both deliveries, the goods will be held at our carrier’s regional depot for up to 5 days where it can be collected. Items requiring a 3rd delivery attempt, re-route or return to us will be charged.
*This excludes remote areas including Scottish Highlands, Scottish Isles, Isle of Man, and Channel Isles. We are able to ship world-wide!
If you want us to ship to you anywhere in the world, send us an email to sales@rayleighhifi.com with the word "International" in the subject header, which items you want and where you live. We will then get back to you promptly with a quote and instructions on how to pay.
